Reducing stillbirth
through collaborative, multidisciplinary research.
About Us
The impact of pregnancy loss is devastating to families and loved ones, so it is important to us to learn more about stillbirth to reduce its occurrence. With this in mind, the Stillbirth Research Consortium was created in September 2025 to (1) employ basic and clinical research to reduce stillbirth; (2) advance knowledge and data we have about stillbirth; and (3) work with people who have experienced stillbirth loss to guide research.
About Us
The Stillbirth Research Consortium is made up of four Research Centers and a Data Coordinating Center. The consortium is funded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
About Us
The Stillbirth Research Consortium goals are to (1) understand mechanisms leading to stillbirth; (2) develop new tools for prediction and prevention of stillbirth; (3) test different care options including clinical studies and strategies; (4) work together across research sites to make a difference.
The Consortium is overseen by the Steering Committee to ensure it is successful in its mission of working together to reduce stillbirth through research. The Steering Committee will prioritize and select protocols to be conducted in collaboration with NICHD, monitor progress, plan collaborative activities, and ensure results are reported in presentations and publications.
